Born in Barura, Comilla, engineer Atiqur Rahman passed civil engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1967. Besides the Managing Director of The Civil Engineers Limited, Engineer Atiqur Rahman is serving as the Chairman of Standard Group, the country’s leading exporter of ready-made garments. It should be noted that since the establishment of The Civil Engineers Limited in 1977, many important structures have been constructed in the construction industry of Bangladesh. Notable among these are Ghorashal Power Project, Balaka Bhawan of Bangladesh Biman, Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Bardem Hospital, Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Bhawan, NSI Head Office Bhawan, Bangladesh Investment Board Bhawan, Bangladesh Supreme Court Vijay 71 Bhawan and many public and private buildings have been constructed. . At present, the work of many projects including nuclear power project in Rooppur, water supply project in Chittagong Wasa is going on.
