Md. Rashed Khan Menon (Russell) has been doing journalism in Tangail for almost 29 years with such ideals. He has endlessly highlighted the various problems and possibilities and the words of the people of Tangail, which is rich in history and tradition of liberation war. His walks in the local, social, cultural and political arenas include environment protection and Lauhjong river rescue activities’. In a private conversation, Md. Rashed Khan Menon (Russell) has come up with various incidents in his 29-year-long journalistic life.
According to family sources, Md. Rashed Khan Menon (Russell) was born on November 10, 1982 in Akur Takur Para area of Tangail district town. His father, late Rakibul Hossain, a veteran freedom fighter, worked in the District Information Office. His mother is Jasmine Ara Siddiqa.
Journalist and human rights activist Md. Rashed Khan Menon (Russell) SSC in 1997 from Bindubasini Government Boys High School, a traditional educational institution in Tangail, HSC from Government MM Ali (Kagmari) College, BCom (Hons) in Management from Government Sadat (University) College Kartia. And passed MBS (Masters). Then passed LLB from National University.
Received training in journalism from National Institute of Mass Media.
Undertook several trainings including basic training from Bangladesh Press Institute. Apart from studying in school and college life, he received various trainings from Scout, Red Crescent and Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC). In 2004, Shrestha won the BNCC medal. History of Journalism: Shiksha Navish started working as a school correspondent in 1993 through Dainik Desh Katha newspaper edited by Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury. He entered the world of writing from his youth. He is regularly writing poetry, rhymes and various topics in various daily, weekly, monthly newspapers and magazines. Worked as a staff reporter in Weekly Moolsroot, Dainik Ajker Telegram, Dainik Nagrik Katha, Dainik Desh Samaan and Dainik Mazlumer Kanth. Currently working as Tangail District Representative of National Daily Sakal Saam Newspaper and Digital Media CNI.
He is also serving as the general secretary of Tangail district branch of “Muktijoddha Sangsad Ishan Command”, a branch organization of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad.
He is serving as the president of Tangail district branch of the country’s largest human rights organization “Human Rights Review Society” approved by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
He said, among thousands of professions, journalism is a noble and honorable profession. However, there are many differences between this and other ten professions. Being a good and professional journalist requires education and personality. Many of today’s established and respected journalists have studied various subjects. It is not necessary to study journalism to become a good journalist. But reading the subject definitely helps one to become a good journalist. Journalists have to be ‘jack of all trades’. That is, it is important for a journalist to have basic knowledge of many subjects. Earlier in Bangladesh, there were job opportunities in print media (newspaper) and electronic media, but now, thanks to the internet, another job opportunity has been created. That is – online media.
He also said that the qualities needed to be a journalist are: 1.Decision 2.Honesty 3.Personality 4.Use 5.Courage 6.Objectivity 7.Perseverance 8.Discipline and communication 9.Responsibility and 10. prudence
Admittedly, in the current context, most of the people are untrained in this profession. The number of people who have studied journalism and come into this profession is less. However, journalism as a promising and challenging profession is a very high-level profession in the country and abroad today. Journalism is at the forefront of all professions in the world. If you enter this profession through study and training in journalism, it is possible to build a promising and brilliant career. Educational qualifications to be a journalist: 1. To work in National Newspaper/Online/Electronic Media he/she should have at least Ornas or equivalent degree. However, educational qualification and experience are relaxable in terms of salary. Bachelors and Masters in Journalism is preferred. Even if there is no formal education in journalism, any course on journalism can easily lead one into the profession of journalism.
