Laksam Representative:
On the occasion of the great Independence and National Day-2026, the day was celebrated in Laksam, Comilla, with colorful arrangements, respect and patriotism. The day-long event was completed through various programs initiated by the upazila administration from Thursday (March 26) morning.
The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the martyrs. This was followed by a parade and salute-taking ceremony at the upazila level, where the entire atmosphere became lively and festive with the participation of various educational institutions, social and cultural organizations.
Comilla-9 (Laksam-Manoharganj) Member of Parliament Md. Abul Kalam was present as the chief guest at the event organized under the chairmanship of Laksam Upazila Executive Officer Nargis Sultana.
Laksam Thana Officer-in-Charge Maqsud Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Minal Chakma, Upazila Executive Engineer Md. Sadiqul Jahan Ridan, Agriculture Officer Al-Amin, Project Implementation Officer Ahmadullah Sabuj, Livestock Officer Karnak Chandra, Freedom Fighter Mohammad Ali, Laksam Journalists Union President Zafar Ahmed and General Secretary Abdur Rahim, along with officials and employees of various departments of the upazila administration, journalists, teachers and students and people from all walks of life were present as special guests.
After the parade, the chief guest distributed prizes among the participating teams at the parade ground. Later, a discussion meeting was held on the freedom fighters.
The speakers at the discussion highlighted the history, sacrifices and significance of the great Liberation War and urged the new generation to be inspired by patriotism. They said that everyone should work from their respective positions to build the country by embracing the spirit of independence.
At the end of the discussion, awards were again distributed and deep respect was paid to the brave freedom fighters.
There was a festive atmosphere throughout Laksham surrounding the day. With the spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life, the spirit of independence was reawakened and deep respect was paid to the sacrifice of the martyrs.
