The great Independence and National Day was celebrated with dignity in Barura, Comilla. Various programs were taken up on the occasion of the Independence and National Day on Thursday, March 26. This morning, the day began with a 31-gun salute at the central Shaheed Minar square in Barura Upazila with sunrise. At 6 am, the Barura Upazila administration paid tribute to the memory of the brave martyrs on the Independence and National Day by placing wreaths. Led by the Barura Upazila Executive Officer, Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Ahsan Hafiz, Barura Thana Officer-in-Charge Azharul Islam, OC Investigation Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, Barura Upazila former Freedom Fighter Sangsad Commander Bir Muktijoddha Shamsul Haque Sardar, Barura Upazila BNP General Secretary Syed Zahirul Haque Swapan, Barura Upazila Social Service Officer Kamrul Hasan Roni, Barura Upazila Engineer Syed Jahangir Alam, Barura Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, Barura Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan, Barura Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, and other administration officials were present.Â
At 8:30 am on this day, the national flag hoisting, parade, salute and display exhibition were held at the Barura Upazila Parishad premises, in which students from various schools and colleges participated. At 11 am, a reception and discussion meeting were held in honor of the families of the martyred freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters at the Barura Upazila Parishad auditorium.Â
During the speech of the chief guest, UNO Barura Upazila Executive Officer Asaduzzaman Roni said that we have achieved this independence in exchange for a sea of ​​blood. 1971 is our acquired wealth. Along with this, the fascist Awami government was overthrown through the popular uprising on August 5, 2024, keeping the spirit of 71 in mind. Therefore, he called on everyone to cooperate with the government in taking effective steps to build a new Bangladesh of the future. That afternoon, the great independence and national day was celebrated with a friendly football match and a pleasant cultural program at the Upazila Parishad premises.
