Mymensingh is celebrating the great Independence and National Day with due dignity. On this occasion, the day’s program began with 31 gun salutes at the city’s Patgudam National Memorial on Thursday (March 26) at sunrise. After that, Sadar constituency MP Abu Wahab Akand Wahid first paid tribute at the altar, then City Corporation Administrator Md. Rokonuzzaman Rokon, Divisional Commissioner Farah Shammi, Range DIG Ataul Kibria, Deputy Commissioner Saifur Rahman and Police Superintendent Mohammad Kamrul Hasan laid wreaths.
At this time, leaders of various political, social and cultural organizations, including the District and Metropolitan Freedom Fighters’ Associations, placed wreaths.

Later, at 8 am, the police force, other forces, and students from various educational institutions will parade and perform physical exercises at the district stadium ground. At the end of the program, a reception will be given to the brave freedom fighters. In addition, a painting competition and a friendly football match will be held.
After placing the wreath, MP Abu Wahab Akand Wahid said, “Tarique Rahman, the pride of youth, is working to take Bangladesh forward with the spirit of independence. BNP will not compromise on the evaluation of freedom fighters.”
