Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan said that the train will run in Cox’s Bazar next September. He said this while inspecting the Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar railway line construction project yesterday (May 16). The Railway Minister said that people all over the country are eagerly waiting to come to Cox’s Bazar by train. Efforts are being made to split the project into two parts to facilitate work, with work completed by next August and ready for inauguration in September. The overall progress of the entire project is 84%. Cox’s Bazar also mentioned that the iconic station building is one of the few in the neighboring country. In response to whether the Kalurghat Bridge will create problems when the train is launched, the minister said that an expert team is working to renovate the Kalurghat Bridge. On the basis of their recommendations, initiatives have been taken to rehabilitate the bridge. The minister mentioned that there will be no problem in running the train. The minister said that if the tourist train will be started when the Cox’s Bazar train is started, there is a plan to run a modern standard train. All the goods have arrived from abroad, now only the fitting work is going on. It should be noted that a 101 km new dual gauge single line is being constructed from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar via Ramu with the funding of ADB. It will be linked with the Trans Asian Railway. The tourist town of Cox’s Bazar will come under the railway network. Safe, comfortable, cost-effective and environment-friendly communication system will be introduced for tourists and local people, it will be possible to transport fish, salt, rubber raw materials and forest and agricultural products easily and at low cost. At this time, Bangladesh Railways Additional Director General (Infrastructure) Md Shahidul Islam, chairman of contracting company Max Md. Alamgir Hossain and others related to the project were present.
