The residents of Barbakpur area of Rajapur in Jhalkathi are happy to have rescued a hundred-year-old road from the hands of encroachment . Locals complain that an institution named Barbakpur Madrasa has illegally occupied the area for 22 years and blocked the street of Basir Hatar. After getting the road back from the hands of the encroacher, the local people started repairing the road on Monday (November 20) morning.
Several people including local resident Mahmud Hasan Rana complained that Maulana Abdul Kabir of the institution occupied the road for 22 years by lifting the wall. In this, we could not bring various items including tractors used for agricultural work. After that, all the local residents informed the local UP members, Union Parishad Chairman and other dignitaries and filed a written complaint with the Rajapur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Officer. Acknowledging our complaint and verifying the truth, Aceland issued a notice to remove the wall within a week. And the surveyor came and measured the land and explained it to us. When Maulana Abdul Kabir filed a case in the learned court ignoring the notice, the court issued an eviction ban. When we submitted the eviction notice issued by the Land Office to the court, the Hon’ble Court lifted the injunction in favor of Abdul Kabir. Even then, Abdul Kabir kept the land in his possession. Then the local UP member, Union Parishad Chairman measured the road and installed boundary pillars.
When asked about this, Abdul Kabir said that this property is ours. Here a mahal has installed pillars on our property with their muscle power.
In this regard, UP member Aslam Hossain Litu said that the 22-feet property (halt) of Union Parishad no. Kabir Maulana has no place in that spot.
