An hour-long protest and human chain was held in front of the main gate of the health complex in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district on Sunday, October 19 at around 10:30 am under the banner of people from all walks of life of the upazila demanding the removal of Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mejbah Uddin. During this, they demanded the implementation of various points.
The demands raised by the protesters at the time were that the corrupt Dr. Mejbah Uddin should be removed within 48 hours, a judicial investigation should be conducted into the corruption during his tenure as a health and family planning officer in the last 3 years, and a detailed report on the grants and expenses received by the hospital should be published.
The secret meeting with then illegal MP SM Shahzada and the collaboration in the illegal Awami fascist government’s election in the 2025 illegal election must be re-investigated.
Rafiqul Islam, president of the student wing of Galachipa Government College, told reporters in Manbandhan that we want Mezbah Uddin to resign. Because, the corrupt Dr. Mejbah Uddin has been involved in many corruptions in the health complex since 2023, we want his immediate removal, he is an ally of the fascist Awami League, our movement will continue until his resignation, so all types of waste materials must be removed from the hospital and the areas adjacent to the hospital within the next 48 hours, all types of sanitation systems including toilets, bathrooms and basins must be cleaned and made usable within the next 48 hours, the list of food for patients every month and the list of medicines allocated by the government must be published on the board in the form of a chart within the next 48 hours, consultants, MBBS doctors, nurses, pathologists and cleaners must be appointed to vacant posts within the next 30 working days for long-term care, the work of revitalizing old and risky buildings must start within the next 30 working days, cesarean for pregnant mothers and pathology tests and X-rays for patients must be introduced within the next 30 working days, within the next 30 working days, Modern store rooms and at least two functioning ambulance systems must be set up, no doctor visits and test business will be allowed during the duty hours set by the government for the next 30 working days, all first aid equipment must be available in the emergency outpatient department for the next 30 working days, including the availability of appropriate hospitals.
Galachipa raised 9 short-term demands on behalf of the people.
