Residents of Comilla’s Muradnagar Upazila held a human chain and protest march demanding the withdrawal of the case filed against Jasim Uddin, a member of Ward No. 8 of Nabipur East Union Parishad No. 14 of Comilla’s Muradnagar Upazila.
This human chain was held at Bakharnagar Bazar area on Companiganj-Navinagar road on Wednesday afternoon.
After the human chain, a protest rally was held on the road. The speakers in the rally said that a conspirator from the same ward of Bakharnagar village tried to take away his membership by filing a false case against Jasim Uddin, a popular member of Ward No. 8 of Nabipur East Union Parishad No. 14. We want to withdraw this case immediately.
Sujan Master, Shahjalal Master, Helal Uddin Master, Billal Hossain Biplab, Sohel Mia spoke in the rally. Shiru Miah, Abul Hashem, Mosharraf Hossain, Kaushar Miah, Nayan Miah, Rafiqul Islam and more than three hundred common people of four wards were also present among others.
Note: When a person named Rimon Bhuiya of Bakharnagar village filed a criminal case against Jasim Uddin, a member of Ward No. 8 of Nabipur East Union Parishad No. 14, his membership was temporarily suspended by the Ministry of Local Government.
UP member Jasim Uddin filed a writ petition in His Highness High Court challenging this order of the Ministry, and the learned judge ordered to suspend the order of the Ministry of Local Government and uphold his membership.
