Brahmanbaria district administration and district health department jointly conducted raids on various private diagnostic centers and hospitals throughout the day on Monday due to allegations of various irregularities including collecting extra fees for dengue tests and collecting blood samples in unsanitary labs. At this time, many complaints are received beyond the complaint. A hospital authority also admitted to selling the medicine bought by one patient to another patient.

The Medinova Diagnostic Center and Hospital in Medda area was fined Tk 50,000 under Sections 52 and 53 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 due to the lack of environment to collect blood samples in the hospital lab and the use of old, broken and outdated equipment. Also the hospital was sealed.

Later, Hope Diagnostic Center and Hospital was fined Tk 1 lakh under Sections 40 and 52 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for obtaining expired and used medicines in the operation theater of the hospital along with charging excess price from patients for dengue test in West Paikpara area of the city. At that time, the hospital authorities admitted to selling the medicine bought by one person to another person.

At the end of the campaign, the health department officer Dr. Ashrafur Rahman Himel said, due to the increase in the effects of dengue across the country, an operation has been conducted on the charge of extorting money from the patients for testing. This campaign will continue.
