Government working to ease the suffering of Hajj pilgrims: Aviation and Tourism Minister

Md. Abdul Haque: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam said the government has decided to complete the renovation work of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and launch it soon. In addition, effective steps are being taken to reduce the suffering of Hajj pilgrims and stop harassment of expatriates.
He made these remarks while interacting with journalists at Manikganj Circuit House on Monday (February 23) at 11 am.
The minister said that special attention will be paid to reducing the suffering of passengers ahead of the holy Hajj season. Necessary preparations are being made to ensure that Hajj passengers can use the airport without any problems.
He further said that the comfort zone at the airport is being improved to enhance the convenience of expatriate passengers. Emphasis is also being placed on ensuring that passengers do not face any problems after returning home from abroad and can directly experience the positive changes at the airport.
Afroza Khanam said that after taking charge, she saw that many important tasks had been pending in the ministry for a long time. Those tasks are being taken forward in a planned manner without wasting time, and in this regard, the advice of the policy-making level is being followed.
Regarding irregularities and corruption at the airport, the minister said that the government’s position is zero tolerance. Strict action will be taken against irregularities and corruption not only at the airport but also in all departments. Officials have been instructed to perform their duties honestly. He also said that the government is also on alert regarding the air ticket syndicate.
