173 people are missing in the incident of fire at Gazi tire factory in Rupsi, Tarabo town area, Rupganj, Narayanganj. Family members cannot find them.

According to the relatives of the missing and the fire service, the family members of those who cannot be found have been gathering in front of the factory since morning. It is said that the missing persons entered the factory during the robbery on Sunday (August 25) night. According to the information given by the relatives, a draft list of the missing has been drawn up. 173 names have been added to this list.

Locals claim that 400-500 people are trapped in the factory. No one can say for sure whether they are alive or not.

According to local and factory sources, Gazi Group chairman Golam Dastgir Gazi was arrested from Shantinagar area of ​​Dhaka on Saturday (August 24) night. The news spread on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, hundreds of people entered Gazi Tire factory and looted various items including machinery and furniture. At one point, more than five hundred people climbed to the different floors of the six-story building of the factory. Looting started from there. Panic spread in the area when miscreants set fire to the ground floor of the building around 9 pm.

Many people jumped down from the second and third floor windows. At one point, when the fire spread to the entire six floors, the locals are claiming that many people trapped inside could not get out.

Fire Service Director (Instructor) Lieutenant Colonel Rezaul Karim told Jago News that there is no opportunity to verify the information at the moment. The names and addresses of the relatives who are claiming are being recorded. So far 173 people have been listed.

He also said that 14 injured people were rescued alive from inside the building. However, it is not possible to say how many people were trapped inside.

Lieutenant Colonel Rezaul Karim said that 12 units of different stations are working to bring the fire under control. Most of the floors of the six-storey building were stocked with various types of flammable materials including plastic, rubber and chemicals. Due to which it becomes difficult to put out the fire until it burns out. All efforts are being made to bring the fire under control.
