Mohammad Masud Majumder: A free medical camp has been held by AKM Abu Taher Foundation in Barura, Comilla, on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyr President Ziaur Rahman.
On Saturday 30 May 2026 a day-long free medical camp was held at Jhalom High School and College under the overall supervision of Barura Upazila BNP President Kaiser Alam Selim. More than a hundred specialist doctors provided medical services from 9 am. Minister of Housing and Public Works Ministry and Member of Parliament for Comilla-8 (Barura) parliamentary constituency Zakaria Taher Suman was present as the chief guest at the free health camp.
About 5,000 people from four unions of Barura Upazila received free medical services in this camp.
At the camp, more than a hundred specialist doctors from different parts of the country provided all general health services, medicine, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics services, child health services, ear, nose and throat diseases, orthopedics, gastroenterology and distributed necessary medicines to general patients. A large presence of women, men and children was observed since morning to receive medical services. The organizers said that this initiative has been taken with the aim of providing medical services to the deprived and indigent people.
Moazzem Hossain Kallol, coordinator of AKM Abu Taher Foundation, said that about 5,000 people have been provided services in the free medical camp. Free medicines have been provided. We will provide this service free of charge to those who need surgery. Sunnah circumcision will continue for seven days from today. We will provide this service continuously in 14 unions including Barura Municipality.
On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyr President Ziaur Rahman, Minister of Housing and Public Works Zakaria Taher Suman MP inaugurated a program to distribute 2,500 fruit tree saplings at the Jhalom Government Primary School grounds, initiated by Comilla Central Cooperative Bank Limited.
