Four bodies recovered in 24 hours in Tangail, three arrested

The police recovered the hanging body of a person named Kabir Hossain in Ghatail upazila of Tangail. The police recovered his body from the charging garage of a van in Chaithatta Battali market of Sangrampur union of the upazila early on Saturday (September 16). The deceased is the son of Abdus Samad of Dhupa Khagrata village of Sangrampur union of Kabir upazila. He is a van driver by profession. In the last 24 hours, the police recovered four bodies from different places in Tangail. There is panic among the common people. In addition, the police arrested three suspects for being involved in the murder of businessman Khairul in Tangail town area on Friday morning.

Ghatail police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Lokman Hossain said that a hanging body was recovered and sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy. After receiving the report, the details will be known whether it is murder or suicide. Meanwhile, on Friday (September 16) in Bhuanapur of the district, the body of the expatriate’s wife was recovered from inside the box bed of the house. After this incident, husband Mostak Hossain is absconding. The rescued expatriate’s wife Munia Islam (32) is the daughter of Nurul Islam Khan of Nalin area of Hemnagar union of Gopalpur upazila and wife of expatriate Mostak, son of Azmat Ali of Baguata village of the same upazila.

On the same day, the police recovered the strangled body of an old woman named Sultana Suraiya (65) from the residence in Bhuyapur. Sultana Suraiya is the mother of Abu Sayem Akand, the news editor of the English daily The Business Standard and the wife of Abdur Rahim Akand, a brave freedom fighter of West Bhuyapur area. The body of the old lady was recovered from her house in West Bhuyapur area of the municipality on Thursday midnight. Ahsan Ullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuyapur police station, said that it is believed that the miscreants killed him a day ago and left him behind. The body has been sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

On the same day, a businessman named Khairul Islam (42) was stabbed to death in an arbitration meeting regarding land in Kodalia of Tangail town area. The deceased Khairul Islam is the son of Jinnat Ali of village Nagar Jalfai of Kartia Union of Sadar Upazila. In this context, Tangail Municipality’s reserved (16,17,18) woman councilor Beauty Begum said that there was a dispute over land with Khairul Islam and local Motaleb. Khairul made an application to the municipality to take over the land. In view of that application, an arbitration meeting was held on Friday morning in Kodalia of the city with the municipality people while measuring the land. Before they knew it, Motaleb attacked the municipal people and sprayed them with pepper powder. At one point Khairul was stabbed. Later, the seriously injured Khairul was rescued and taken to Tangail General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tangail Sadar police station Mohammad Abu Chalam said that Bilkis Begum, the wife of the victim in the incident, filed a murder case accusing 11 people on Friday night. Dolly Khanum, Nasreen Khanum and Abu Taib have been arrested in this incident. Dolly Khanam, whose hand was amputated during the attack on Khairul, is being treated at Tangail General Hospital in police custody. Police action in this regard is ongoing.
