An allegation has been made against former Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui’s younger brother Murad Siddiqui for blocking his convoy in Tangail. At that time, there was a fight between the supporters of the two brothers. A car was also vandalized. The incident happened on Tuesday (September 19) morning in Daskia area of Patrail-Silimpur road of Delduar upazila. The matter is being discussed and criticized throughout the district. According to the followers of Latif Siddiqui and Murad Siddiqui, Atiya was going to visit the shrine with a fleet of 19 vehicles on Tuesday morning. When Latif Siddiqui’s convoy reached the spot, Murad Siddiqui stopped them. Murad Siddiqui also beat Latif Siddiqui’s supporters. When Latif Siddiqui arrived at the scene, while Murad Siddiqui was leaving, there was a scuffle between the supporters of the two brothers. At one point, among the five vehicles in Murad Siddiqui’s fleet, the front fender of a microbus was broken. Later, Murad Siddiqui went to his residence in Tangail with his followers. Later Latif Siddiqui visited Elenga in Kalihati after visiting Atiya shrine.
Murad Siddiqui denied the allegation and said, I am Kader Siddiqui’s brother and Latif Siddiqui’s brother. He returned home after visiting the shrine. There were no untoward incidents. Abdul Latif Siddiqui said that BNP leaders and workers have announced that Awami League leaders and workers will be overthrown in October. I have to resist it from my conscience. I have never committed terrorism. To counter this, you have to go to the people. For that I have come to Jokarchar and Gohaliabari area of Kalihati. I have come to warn the common people without holding any meetings. I say to the leaders and activists, unite yourselves. Anti-independence evil forces and terrorists must be dealt with. He said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the leader of 14 parties, will take the decision of the election.
Regarding Murad Siddiqui, the former minister also said, “I don’t know anything about it.” But they (followers) have complained about it as he is beating 4/5 of my workers. I know that Murad Siddiqui is threatening various people on mobile. He is scaring the mayor of Elenga. I never considered him a political leader. He is a contractor and a terrorist. Other than that, I don’t think about him. Azad Siddiqui was associated with student politics and movement. As far as I know, Murad Siddiqui never made Awami League or Chhatra League. So I have no headache with him.
Officer in charge (OC) Nashir Uddin Mridha (PPM) of Delduar Police Station said that he himself was at the scene. There was no attack or vandalism. However, there have been incidents of fighting and pushing between the two parties.
