A discussion meeting was held on measures to prevent encroachment and pollution of the Laujong river flowing over Tangail town. Environmentalist organization Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) organized a meeting at a restaurant in the city on Tuesday, December 5. Tangail District Awami League Vice President and Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shahjahan Ansari was the chief guest. Under the chairmanship of Khandkar Nazim Uddin, Deputy Director of District Environment Department Zamir Uddin Haider, Sub Divisional Engineer of Water Development Board Abu Zubair were special guests. Maulana Bhasani University of Science and Technology, Department of Environmental Science, Deputy Registrar. Iqbal Bahar Electricity, Development Worker Mir Jalal Ahmed Ujjal.

Gautam Chandra Chand, Divisional Coordinator of Bela conducted the program. At this time, various private offices, officials of private development organizations and social workers were present. In the meeting, the encroachment and pollution of Laujong River and rescue operations were discussed in detail.
