Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon, Kaptai: The Election Commission (EC) is purchasing 914.009 metric tons of paper from BCIC’s paper manufacturing company Karnaphuli Paper Mills Limited (KPM) located in Chandraghona, Kaptai Upazila, Rangamati, to print ballot papers for the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. The market value of the paper is around Tk 11.11 crore.
According to KPM sources, 178.009 metric tons of paper have already been supplied to the Election Commission. The remaining 736 metric tons of paper will be produced in stages and supplied by January 2026. KPM Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Shahid Ullah confirmed the matter on Monday (November 10) afternoon. He said, “In the current 2025-2026 fiscal year, a total of 914.009 metric tons of paper, including colored (green, pink, azure lead) and brown sulphate, have been ordered from the Election Commission. He also said, “Apart from the Election Commission, orders for the supply of about 2,894 metric tons of paper have also been received from some private institutions including the Bangladesh Stationery Office (BSO), various education boards and universities, with a market value of about Tk 37.33 crore. Already, 923 metric tons of paper have been sold till last Saturday (November 8).
Meanwhile, the KPM Managing Director’s office has informed that the company’s target for paper production in the current fiscal year is 3,500 metric tons, with a market value of approximately Tk 40 to 45 crore. Of this, 1,093 metric tons of paper have been produced so far (November 9). Currently, the factory’s production activities are running normally.
