Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Sanatan religion, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mymensingh. This year, a total of 780 mandap (shrines) have been organized for the puja in the district. Law enforcement agencies have created a tight security perimeter at the mandap (shrines) to avoid any untoward incident.
Local Suma Rani said, “It feels great to be traveling with my whole family. I prayed to my mother for the countrymen.”
Arjun Debnath said, “Every year we all go out together. This year too, we went out together. We prayed for everyone, that everyone in the country is well.”Â

He said that currently the overall environment in the district is completely normal. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly at three levels to celebrate the puja peacefully. Surveillance has been increased in each mandap and its surrounding areas. Along with the uniformed police, plainclothes detectives are also on patrol. CCTV cameras are being monitored round the clock at important mandap. Our cyber team is also working in the field.Â
The leaders of the Puja celebration committee expressed satisfaction with the law and order situation and expressed gratitude to the administration.
