A businessman named Aminul Islam was severely attacked for obstructing his drug trade. Sonargaon Police Station has already arrested a person named Nanu Mia in this incident.Â
Local sources say that under the umbrella of influential BNP leaders, this drug gang has become reckless in the area. On September 7, the victim of the attack, Aminul Islam, filed a case with Sonargaon Police Station accusing 3 people. Since the case was filed, the accused have become more reckless.
The victim businessman Aminul Islam said, “I was attacked for stopping and prohibiting drug dealers from their illegal activities. I was seriously injured in the attack and there is no treatment at the Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex. Seeing my physical condition, the doctor is telling me to get better treatment. I want justice from you. The accused should be arrested and punished.”Â
Immediately after the incident, locals informed the police and the police took quick action. Locals alleged that these drug dealers have been active in the area for a long time with the support of an influential group and the environment of the area is being disturbed due to them.Â
The police said they are working with a zero-tolerance policy to combat drugs and crime and strict action will be taken against this gang.
The OC (Investigation) of Sonargaon Police Station said, “The main accused in the case has already been arrested. Our operation to arrest the remaining accused involved in this attack is ongoing. They will be brought under the law soon.”
