Nobel laureate Dr. Chief Advisor of Interim Government has expressed his gratitude to the friendly countries for standing by Bangladesh during the crisis. Muhammad Yunus.
He said this during a briefing of ambassadors, high commissioners of different countries assigned to Bangladesh at Hotel Intercontinental on Sunday (August 18) and the heads of various organizations.
Dr. Yunus said, Bangladesh is grateful to the friendly countries, they helped us during the crisis. Going through a challenging time right now. It has been two weeks since the second revolution in Bangladesh. Thousands of people have formed resistance against dictator Sheikh Hasina. He fled the country.
He said that the students are committed for the freedom of the common people. Hundreds of people died, thousands were injured. I hope you can help us. Many students sustained bullet injuries, many with rubber bullets in their eyes.
The Chief Adviser said, I respect the youth who have sacrificed themselves for the country. They have sacrificed themselves for democratic expression. The young society wants a non-discriminatory, friendly country. I have taken charge of the country, but Sheikh Hasina’s dictatorship has destroyed all the country’s institutions. Judiciary has collapsed, democratic rights have been undermined for a long time, rigged elections have been held. A young society grew up disenfranchised. Bank robbery happened due to political influence.
