Legalized nets have been distributed among the registered fishermen during the financial year (2023-24) under Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project at Bhola Lalmohan.
On Tuesday (October 10) at noon, these nets, fulls and bricks were distributed among the fishermen in the village of Lordhardinge Union of the upazila.
Lalmohan Upazila Awami League senior vice-president and UP chairman Alhaj Abul Kashem Mia presided as the chief guest, Deputy Director of Fisheries Directorate Barisal Division Nripendra Nath Biswas.
District Fisheries Officer Abul Kalam Azad, recently departed District Fisheries Officer Md. Molla Emdaduliah, Assistant Director Md. Nasir Uddin, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Maruf Hossain Minar, Marine Fisheries Officer Md. were present as special guests. Tanveer Ahmed, Upazila Jubo League Joint Convener Lecturer Iqbal Hossain Julhas.
Also, UP members Nazir Ahmed, Gani Master, Union Chhatra League president Shamim Sardar, officials and employees of Upazila Fisheries Office and UP members of various wards of the union were also present.
The speakers said that they can fish safely through this legal net distributed among the fishermen. Through this they will not be afraid of losing the net. Through this, fishermen will become self-reliant and help in meeting the demand of fish.
