An awareness meeting was held on the occasion of Ma Hilsa Conservation Campaign-2023 under the indigenous fish and snail conservation and development project. Today (September 26) 40 goats, 20 houses and 40 goats among 20 fishermen were created in Rajapur Upazila square to create alternative employment for fishermen. Food is distributed. Marine Fisheries Officer Md. Mahmudul Hasan Mahmud under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farhana Yasmin. Mr. Nripendra Nath Biswas, Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries, Barisal Division, Barisal, was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Mr. Moniruzzaman, Upazila Chairman, Rajapur, Mr. Ripon Kanti Ghosh, District Fisheries Officer, Jhalkathi, Afroja Akter Laiju, Female Vice Chairman, Rajapur Upazila Parishad, Mr. Nazrul Islam Swapan Talukdar, Chairman, Sadar Union Parishad, Rajapur were present as special guests. Mr. Mozammel Haque, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer (Add), Rajapur delivered the welcome address on the occasion. In the event, 40 goats, 20 houses and food were distributed among 20 fishermen under the conservation and development project of indigenous species of fish and snails. Later, an awareness meeting was held by the upazila administration and fisheries officer’s office on the occasion of mother hilsa conservation campaign.
