Distribution of food items among the needy on the occasion of Ziaur Rahman’s martyrdom anniversary

On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP’s founding chairman, promoter of multi-party democracy and former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, prayer, discussion meeting and food distribution program were held in Laksam and Manoharganj of Comilla.
On Saturday (May 30), at the discussion meeting and prayer mahfil organized at the Upazila Auditorium by the Manoharganj Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations, Md. Abul Kalam MP, MP of Comilla-9 (Laksam-Manoharganj) constituency and BNP’s National Executive Committee’s Industrial Affairs Secretary, was present as the chief guest.
In the discussion meeting, the speakers highlighted various aspects of martyred President Ziaur Rahman’s working life, contribution to the War of Independence, establishment of multi-party democracy and his role in the development of the country. Later, special prayers and prayers were held seeking the forgiveness of his soul.
After the program, the chief guest Md. Abul Kalam MP distributed food items among the local poor, helpless and low-income people.
Later, in the afternoon of the same day, Abul Kalam MP participated as the chief guest in a discussion meeting titled “Society affected by terrorism, drugs, addiction and gambling: Ways to overcome” in Dishaband village of Khila union of Manoharganj upazila.
At this time, he said that terrorism, drugs and gambling push the society towards destruction. Families, educational institutions, social organizations and political leadership must work together to build a healthy, beautiful and humane society. There is no alternative to increasing social awareness to keep the young generation free from drugs and crime.
Later, another prayer and discussion meeting was held at the party office on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman at the initiative of Laksam Upazila and Municipality BNP and its affiliated organizations. Abul Kalam MP, who was present as the chief guest at the meeting, called for following the political philosophy and ideals of Shaheed Zia.
After the program, food items were distributed among the local needy and helpless people here too.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, people from different classes and professions and local dignitaries were present in these day-long programs. The speakers expressed their determination to work for the welfare of the country and the people by adopting the ideals of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.
