The bitter cold, dense fog and icy winds have disrupted normal life in Dinajpur Sadar and the entire district since the end of December. Since the early hours of Tuesday (December 23), the district town and surrounding areas have been shrouded in dense fog, bringing daily activities to a standstill. Due to the severe cold, the presence of people in crowded areas including the main road, Station Road and Bahadur Bazar of Dinajpur city has decreased alarmingly. No one is stepping out of their homes except for urgent needs. Those who are stepping out are seen wearing heavy winter clothes. The bite of winter is being felt the most in the open areas and rural areas of Dinajpur Sadar Upazila. The suffering of farmers and daily wage workers in the city working in the fields has reached its peak. Akram Ali, a resident of Pulhat area of ​​Sadar Upazila, said that it has become very difficult to go out in the fog and cold wind. It has become impossible to work this winter. Mahabur Alam, a farmer from Sheikhpura village in the same upazila, said that they are facing serious problems in field work due to fog and cold wind. Due to the severe cold in the morning, rickshaw pullers and hard-working people are not able to go out to work on time. The presence of workers waiting for work at the crossroads of Dinajpur city is much less than other days. Due to this, their daily income has decreased, and low-income people are facing problems with their families. According to the Dinajpur Meteorological Office, the lowest temperature recorded in the district on Monday was 13 degrees Celsius and the humidity of the air was 97 percent. Md. Tofazzal Hossain, in-charge of Dinajpur Meteorological Office, said: The day temperature may decrease further in the next few days. There is a possibility of a continuous decrease in night temperature after December 23. Mild to moderate cold wave may blow in some areas of the district by the end of December. Although the fog density may decrease slightly from Wednesday, the level of cold may increase. He also said that due to this sudden intensity of winter, the crowd of cold-related patients has started increasing in the hospitals of the district. The local administration and various service organizations have been called upon to stand by the cold-stricken people.
