International Forest Day was celebrated in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar with the theme “Healthy body, healthy mind, if there is a rich forest”. On this occasion, a rally was organized by Cox’s Bazar Forest Department on Tuesday (March 21) morning. The rally marched along important roads. Later, in the discussion meeting held in the hall of the North Forest Division, Chief Guest Md. Sarwar Alam, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division said, the responsibility does not end with planting trees. Apart from taking care of it, common people should be made aware. Forest bandits have been destroying forests and environment for ages. They have to face each other with courage. Forests must be protected for future generations. However, public awareness is essential for this. He also said that forest officials will make mistakes, but no crime can be committed. And if the crime is proven, strict action will be taken against him. Divisional Forest Officer of Cox’s Bazar North Forest Division, Md. Anwar Hossain Sarkar, spoke as a special guest in the meeting, Deputy Project Director of Eco-Life Project-Necom. Md Shafiqur Rahman, journalist Muhammad Ali Jinnat, Sarwar Azam Manik and Deepak Sharma Dipu. Assistant Conservator of Forests gave a welcome speech. Prantosh Ray.
