The country’s first submarine base, Banouja Sheikh Hasina, is officially going to start its operational activities. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the base at Pekua in Cox’s Bazar by connecting virtually from Ganobhaban on Monday (March 20) at 1 pm. On this occasion, the Pekua Submarine Base area of Cox’s Bazar has been decorated with colorful decorations. For the first time in the history of the country, several infrastructures have been built in this submarine base. There is also a training center for submariners. After entering the submarine era in 2017, two submarines named Banauja ‘Navayatra’ and ‘Jayatra’ were kept at the Isha Khan naval base of the Karnaphuli river. But for the sake of safety and proper maintenance of submarines, specialized bases are required. Submarine base Banouja Sheikh Hasina has been built with about 700 acres of land from that place.
