Ā After being closed for several years due to communal violence, Korbanpur of Muradnagar in Comilla was held this year with great fanfare, the biggest Mansa Dashami Puja in the country. Korbanpur village of Muradnagar in Comilla turned into a place of joy for three days in a great meeting of numerous men and women of Hindu-Muslim community on the tenth festival of Sanatan community’s Mansa Puja. On the occasion of this puja, hundreds of idols are decorated in the field adjacent to Korbanpur market. On Sunday night, the Mansa Dashami celebration ended with various ceremonies including a discussion program, idol fair. Alhaj Yusuf Abdullah Harun MP spoke as the chief guest and Comilla Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan BPM Bar spoke as a special guest. Also, the prominent people who participated in the event gave speeches. They said that Korbanpur’s Mansa Dashmi celebrations can be a role model for communal harmony in the whole country. In this, one and a half hundred beautiful idols of Mansa from various villages around Korbanpur were brought to the festival site and collected. Later, after various competitions throughout the night, the ‘Best Statue Award’ was announced. A fair of various products is held next to the Korbanpur market around the festival. Officer in-charge of Bangra Bazar Police Station Md Riaz Uddin Chowdhury, Muradnagar Awami League General Secretary Golam Sarwar Hasan Chinu, Nabinagar Puja Celebration Committee Vice President Journalist Gaurang Debnath Apu, Heritage Comilla President Jahangir Alam Imrul and others were present. It is to be noted that on Saturday, October 31, 2020, houses and places of worship of people of Sanatan religion were attacked and vandalized in Korbanpur, Muradnagar, Comilla, on the charge of insulting Islam through Facebook status.
