Due to continuous rain since morning, waterlogging has occurred in various roads from Kandirpar to Ranirbazar, Ashoktala Mor area, Police Line, Race Course, Bagichagaon, Rajganj, Chatiparti, Bhatpara, Dhanmondi, Bisik area, Thakurpara, City Corporation area. Knee-deep water has accumulated in several places.
Meanwhile, the city dwellers are suffering due to heavy rains. Due to the accumulation of water on the road, the fare has to be doubled to reach the destination. Still rickshaws and CNG auto rickshaws are not available.
Alek Hossain was taking an autorickshaw from Dharmapur Victoria College area of ​​Comilla city to Kandirpar area. He told the reporter that the fare from here to Kandirpar is 10 taka. During the rains, water collects in Kandirpar and you have to pay double the fare.
Talked to Faria Rahman from Bishwa Road in Kandirpar area. He said that regular autorickshaw fare from Bishwa Road to Kandirpar is Tk 20. It has become 30 rupees due to rain. What else to do, you have to reach the destination.
Meanwhile, heavy rains have resulted in waterlogged roads in Comilla city leading to traffic jams. Knee-deep water on the main road. There is no way to walk. A rickshaw fare of Tk 50 is Tk 100. Rana Mia, a resident of Chawkbazar area, said that if he had known such a situation, he would not have left the house today.
Several pedestrians said that there is a delay in reaching the destination even though there is less traffic on the road. Kabir Hossain did not get a rickshaw even after waiting for half an hour due to water logging in the Thakurpara area of ​​the city. He said, the water accumulated on the road, even if you take off your shoes, your pants will get wet. He opens the shop at 9 am every day. Couldn’t go even an hour today. Waiting for the rickshaw. According to the District Meteorological Office, such rainfall may continue for another day or two. District Meteorological Officer Syed Arifur Rahman said over the phone that 98.8 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in the previous 24 hours till 12 noon on Monday. Due to the low pressure, numerous clouds have formed, due to which such heavy rainfall occurs. There may be heavy rain for another day or two.
