Comilla-8 Barura Constituency nomination valid-11, invalid-4

Scrutiny of nomination papers of Comilla 8 Barura Constituency was held in the 12th Parliament Election. A total of 15 candidates submitted their nomination papers to contest the election from this seat, out of which the returning officer declared the nomination papers of four candidates invalid due to various reasons. Nomination papers of 11 candidates including nominees of various parties have been declared valid.

On Monday, December 4, in the conference room of the Comilla District Commissioner’s office, the nominations of 15 candidates for Comilla 8 Barura constituency were scrutinized.

District Returning Officer and Comilla Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman said the nomination papers of four candidates in Comilla and Barura constituencies have been cancelled.

They are:

1. Independent candidate Sohail Ahmed (1% due to discrepancy in support index list)

2. Bangladesh Khilafat movement candidate Abul Farah Md. Abdul Aziz (due to no documents or TIN number in support of education certificate and income tax)

3. Independent candidate Tahmina Chowdhury (1% due to discrepancy in support index)

4. Md. Hannan Mia of Bangladesh Congress Party (due to concealment of information in the affidavit)

Those whose nomination papers were declared valid are:

1. Bangladesh Awami League nominated candidate Abu Zafar Md Shafiuddin

2.Ā  independent candidate former Member of Parliament Nurul Islam Milon

3. People’s Front GF) nominated candidate Md. Dulal Mia

4. Bangladesh Tariqat Federation (BTF) nominated candidate Syed Rezaul Haque Chandpuri

5.Islami Oikya Jot (I.O.J) Md. Mofiz Uddin Ahmed

6. Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) nominated candidate Mozammel Haque Bashir

7. Independent candidate former Member of Parliament Naschimul Alam Chowdhury

8. Zaker party nominated candidate Shariful Islam

9. National Party nominated candidate HM. M Irfan

10. Bangladesh Workers Party nominated candidate Md. Ahsan Ullah

11. Bangladesh Islamic Front (BIF) nominated candidate Md. Mas Udul Alam
