A colorful rally, Baisakhi and folk fair-2026 and cultural programs have been organized in Laksam, Comilla, on the occasion of the celebration of Bengali New Year 1433 in a joyful and festive atmosphere.
The event was organized at the Mini Stadium on Tuesday (April 14) morning under the initiative of the Laksam Upazila administration. Md. Abul Kalam, Member of Parliament for Comilla-9 (Laksam-Manoharganj) constituency, was present as the chief guest at the event. Upazila Executive Officer Nargis Sultana presided over the event.
In the morning, a colorful rally circled various roads of Laksam city and ended at the Mini Stadium. A festive atmosphere was created with the participation of various educational institutions, social and cultural organizations in the rally.
After the rally, the Baisakhi and folk fairs were inaugurated. The fair featured various products of rural heritage, handicrafts, folk items and entertainment events, which attracted visitors.
After the opening session, a discussion meeting was held, where speakers highlighted the importance of the Bengali New Year’s tradition and culture and emphasized on involving the new generation in this tradition.
Later, a delightful cultural program was organized. In this, local and Dhaka-based artists presented the traditional culture of Bengal through music, dance and recitation.
Also present at the program were Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Al Amin, Project Implementation Officer Ahmadullah Sabuj, Laksam Thana OC Maqsud Alam, Health Officer Nazia Binte Alam, Laksam Municipality BNP President Mazir Ahmed, Upazila BNP General Secretary Abdur Rahman Badal, Organizing Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Mushu, Municipality MP General Secretary Omar Faruk, and local dignitaries.
Organizers said that such events will play an important role in spreading Bengali culture and tradition among the new generation. The New Year celebrations in Laksam became lively with various programs throughout the day.
