The attacker named Nurul Islam (55) of Varshijora TB Hospital Road No. 7 Chandnighat Union as the main accused in the brutal murder of Rezaul Karim Naeem (22), a student of Moulvibazar Government College, in front of his parents and sisters inside his house. A case (No-08/340, date: 09/11/2023) has been filed at Moulvibazar Model Police Station against 4/5 unknown persons. The other accused in the case are Md. Roni Mia (23), son of main accused Nurul Islam, Md. Anwar Hossain (24), son of Qadir Mia, Sohan Mia (19), son of Idan Mia, Md. Simon Islam (21), son of Abdul Aziz, Idan Mia. Son Md Imon Mia (21), Alamin Mia (20) – father unknown, Sakil Hossain (21) father – unknown, main accused Nurul Islam’s wife Parveen Begum (45), daughter Jessie Akhtar (20) and unknown 4/5. In between Sohan Mia is in jail for his involvement in the murder. It has been reported that Nurul Islam Gongra of the neighboring house entered the house with domestic weapons and attacked at around 7 o’clock in the evening of November 7. College student Rezaul left the spot thinking Karim Naeem dead. Meanwhile, other members of his family were injured. Later, he was rescued and first taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, but his condition deteriorated and he died at Sylhet Osmani Hospital at approximately 05.48 am on November 8. In this regard, Md Cherag Mia said – the main accused Nurul Islam used to take money from me. But he did not return that money. Jessie Akhter (20), daughter of Nurul Islam, who is directly involved in the latest murder case, demanded Tk 1 lakh from me to be sent to London. Rezaul Karim Naeem (22) came to my own house and brutally killed him in a planned manner by making false allegations that he had written on Facebook with a fake ID as he was unable to pay the demanded amount. He also said that Nurul Islam had planned to rob my house with 15/16 people on the day of the incident due to non-payment of the demanded amount. Nurul and other accused involved in this murder case demanded death sentence as an exemplary punishment. When asked about this matter, Moulvibazar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Harunur Rashid said – Rezaul Karim Naeem’s father, Md. Cherag Mia, has filed a case with Nurul Islam as the main plaintiff and 4/5 unknown defendants. 1 person has been arrested. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused. However, the matter is being seen as a loss because of writing about Facebook or any other reason.
