Chowdhury Irad Ahmad Siddiqui, the leader of the oldest and traditional Baliadi zamindar family of Bangladesh, has collected the nomination papers of Trinamool BNP for the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections in Gazipur-1 (Kaliakair).
On Thursday (November 23) around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, he bought nomination papers by depositing Tk 20,000 in the office of Gazipur District Commissioner and District Returning Officer. Chowdhury Irad Ahmad Siddiqui has collected the first nomination papers of Trinamool BNP from Gazipur-1 (Kaliakoir) constituency, said Gazipur District Commissioner and District Returning Officer’s Office Administrative Officer Md Altaf Hossain Mollah.
Chowdhury Irad Ahmad Siddiqui is the elder son of former BNP MP Chowdhury Tanveer Ahmed Siddiqui and elder brother of BNP Gazipur District Organizing Secretary Barrister Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmad Siddiqui who was elected twice from Gazipur-1 and 3 (joined Kaliakair-Sripur) constituencies. He participated in Dhaka (North) City Corporation elections in 2015 on Lau symbol and defeated then Mayor Anisul Haque and BNP candidate Tabith Awal in two constituencies of Paikpara, Mirpur, Dhaka.
About getting elected from Trinamool BNP, Chowdhury Irad Ahmad Siddiqui said, “No son of Kaliakir has been allowed to be elected to the National Parliament in the last 30 years. Late advocate Rahmat Ali, son of Sreepur and son of Gazipur Sadar and Minister of Liberation War Akam Mozammel Haque, have been elected for six terms since the 1990s. Awami League has made MPs and ministers through nominations.
So Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiqui thinks that it is late but now is the time for the eligible children of Kaliakor to be elected as representatives of Kaliakor and in this election he is the only child of Kaliakor, who appeals to the voters to elect the soil and people of Kaliakor by voting. BNP is not coming in this election. Awami League and Freedom Fighter Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has done a lot of work as an external MP in the last 15 years, but he has failed to protect the unemployment, drug problem and local interests of the Trinamool of Kaliakair upazila, which is one of the reasons that he is not a child of the soil and people of Kaliakair. Since BNP is not coming in this election, if the election is fair, Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiqui will get the votes of the opposition,” he said.
Chowdhury Irad Ahmad Siddiqui also said, “The nature of elections determines the level of democracy. Elections are one of the most important parts of a modern representative democratic system. No state can be called democratic unless elections are held at regular intervals. If democratic government can be called the best government, then its The main pillar is elections and there is a deep connection between the two.
In reality, the power of the government in a democracy is derived from the mandate given by the voters and the elected representatives act as proxies on behalf of the people. Elections dictate the proper application of the process of achieving institutional efficiency in a stable political system through broad-based public participation, especially inventing ways to express the voices of the majority of poor people and meet their expectations. This results in a positive relationship between democracy and development. Indeed, the direct and indirect contribution of elections to the development and consolidation of democracy is universally acknowledged.”
