A 5-year-old child named Jhuma was killed after being hit by a pickup van in Brahmanbaria. The accident took place at Malihata area of Sadar Upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Monday around 2 pm. The deceased was from Malihata area of Sadar Upazila of Jhuma district. Salim was Mia’s daughter.
Confirming the incident, Khantihata Highway Police Station OC Akul Chandra Biswas said that Jhuma was crossing the highway in Malihata area of Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at noon. At that time, a pickup van carrying watermelons going to Sylhet hit him. Later, the locals rescued Jhuma and took him to Brahmanbaria General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The body was handed over to the family without an autopsy as there was no complaint.
