Mohammad Idris: Preparations for flawless security are now underway in the electoral arena of Brahmanbaria district, focusing on the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election. Out of a total of 805 polling stations in the district, 574 centers have been identified as risky and more risky, of which 92 centers are included in the ‘more risky’ list. The number of normal centers is 231. Although such statistics have created some concern in the minds of voters, the extensive preparations of the administration are determined to allay that fear.
In particular, 138 out of 192 polling stations in Brahmanbaria-3 have been identified as risky or high-risk. In addition, special vigilance has been taken in the polling stations of Nasirnagar, Sarail, Kasba and Nabinagar considering the level of risk.
However, District Superintendent of Police Shah Md. Abdur Rouf clarified that this ‘risk’ is not a specific threat; rather, this classification has been made based on communication systems and past experience. In addition to deploying police and Ansar members at each center, the army, RAB and BGB will patrol in a coordinated manner.
According to the announcement of Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhter Jahan, a security net has been set up across the district. As part of special surveillance, CCTV cameras are being installed in every polling station in the district, which will play a major role in restoring the confidence of the voters. This strict and modern step of the administration promises a free and fair election, where the common people can exercise their right to vote without fear.
