On the occasion of Mujib Barsha, 662 landless and homeless families in Brahmanbaria district are getting houses under Asharyana Scheme-2-Project. These include 105 families in Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila, 126 families in Bancharampur Upazila, 100 families in Nabinagar Upazila, 08 families in Akhaura Upazila, 49 families in Sarail Upazila, 20 families in Ashuganj Upazila and 254 families in Nasirnagar Upazila. Deputy Commissioner Md Shahgir Alam informed this information in a press briefing organized in the conference room. In a press briefing, Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahgir Alam said, “Not a single person of Bangladesh will be homeless in the Mujib year” in order to implement this announcement of the Honorable Prime Minister, the fourth phase of Asharyan-2-project for the resettlement of ‘A’ category landless (those who have no land and no house) will be established in Brahmanbaria district. 662 landless and homeless families will get houses. Next March 22 (Wednesday), Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the handing over of these houses of the shelter project. House keys and documents will be handed over to 662 families of Brahmanbaria after the Prime Minister’s inauguration. He said that since the target has been achieved, the prime minister will declare 6 upazilas of Brahmanbaria “landless and homeless” on that day. “The landless and homeless upazilas are Vijaynagar upazila, Nasirnagar upazila, Sarail upazila, Bancharampur upazila, Ashuganj upazila and Akhaura upazila. In the press briefing, Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahgir Alam also said that the construction work of the houses has already been completed. The cost of construction of each half-paved house with two rooms on 2 percent Khas land is 2 lakh 84 thousand 5 hundred taka. All the houses are built in the same design. The houses have been constructed under the overall supervision of the district administration. He said that land deeds have already been registered in the names of the beneficiaries and the homeless. There are open fields in front of some shelter projects. Electricity connection has been provided in every constructed house. Deputy Commissioner Shahgir Alam also said that this is a revolution in the resettlement of the landless in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, no one will be homeless in this country. The goal of the current government is to create a society without discrimination. Additional District Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Ruhul Amin, District Administration Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Commissioner Golam Mustafa Munna, Acting President of Brahmanbaria Press Club Md. Jasim Uddin, General Secretary Md. Baharul Islam Mollah and journalists of various print and electronic media working in the district were present at the press briefing. Editors of various dailies were present.
