Fayzul Islam (Staff Reporter): Prayer and Discussion Meeting Held in Savar Marking the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Savar, May 30: A prayer gathering, Milad Mahfil, and discussion meeting were held at Dewan Idris Villa in Bank Colony, Savar, marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of former President of Bangladesh, the proclaimer of independence, and founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Ziaur Rahman.
The program was organized with due respect and solemnity in remembrance of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and his outstanding contributions to the nation.
The event was arranged under the supervision of former municipal BNP leader, President of Savar Bazar Road Business Association, prominent businessman, and Savar municipality mayoral candidate Obaidur Rahman Ovi.
The chief guest at the event was Honorable Member of Parliament of Dhaka-19 Dr. Dewan Mohammad Salauddin Babu. Local political leaders, activists, and distinguished community members were also present.
Speakers at the discussion meeting paid deep tribute to the life and legacy of Ziaur Rahman. They highlighted his patriotism, leadership, contribution to Bangladesh’s Liberation War, and his historic role in establishing multi-party democracy in the country.
They said Ziaur Rahman was one of the pioneers of nationalist politics in Bangladesh, and his ideals and leadership continue to inspire the people of the country. The speakers added that his contribution to protecting the nation’s independence, sovereignty, and democracy will always be remembered in history.
During the discussion, the speakers also recalled that Ziaur Rahman was assassinated in 1981 and described him as a true patriot who dedicated his life to serving the country and its people. They said he had dreamed of changing the destiny of the people of Bangladesh through development and opportunity.
The speakers further mentioned that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is continuing to work for the welfare of the people by following the ideals and path of his father.
The program concluded with a special prayer and munajat seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. People from different professions, political activists, and local dignitaries attended the event.
