Firoz Alam, Staff Reporter : Patuakhali Baufal in Jamaat activists and supporters blocked the car carrying freedom fighter Shahidul Alam Talukder, a candidate for the Paddy Sheesh Marker. His car was blocked in front of Baufal police station around 4 pm on Sunday. Later, the car was released with the intervention of senior leaders.
It is learned that a procession of Paddy Sheesh activists and supporters attacked a procession of the scale at Bhandaria Bazar in Chandradwip Union of Baufal. Then a chase took place between BNP and Jamaat activists and supporters. Several Jamaat activists were injured. Sources said that hundreds of activists and supporters gathered in front of the police station demanding the removal and partiality of Bauphal Police Station OC Siddiq Rahman. At that time, former BNP MP and Paddy Sheaf Marker candidate Shahidul Alam was passing in front of the police station in his personal car to attend an election meeting. At that time, Jamaat activists and supporters blocked his car and shouted false slogans. At one point, the BNP candidate’s car was released after the intervention of some top leaders of Jamaat. In the evening, Jamaat candidate Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud appeared in front of the police station and was seen giving speeches describing the incidents of attacks at different times. He called on the administration to take necessary action in all attacks including Chandradwip. After the administration said that it would take necessary action, Jamaat candidate Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud was seen leaving in front of the police station towards the upazila with his leaders and workers.
