A free eye treatment camp for students was organized in Nesarabad Upazila of Pirojpur under the initiative of the freedom fighter Nurul Islam Manjur Foundation.
Ahmed Sohel Manjur Sumon, Chairman of the Foundation and BNP-nominated MP candidate for Pirojpur-2 constituency, inaugurated the camp as the chief guest.
Eye treatment was provided to students throughout the day at this camp held at Jagannathkathi Secondary School on Thursday (November 20) morning.
The school’s head teacher, assistant teachers, Nesarabad Upazila, Municipal BNP and various levels of leaders of associated organizations were present at the program.
In his speech as the chief guest, Ahmed Sohel Manjur Sumon said, “BNP has always believed in public welfare activities. We are working for the welfare of the people on the instructions of the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman. Students are the future of the country, and eyes are an important asset. With that in mind, we have been conducting free eye care programs in various schools in Pirojpur-2 constituency for the past month.”
He said that eye camps have been conducted in nine schools in three upazilas in the past month. Over three thousand students had their eyes examined. Of these, 950 were given glasses and 750 students were given eye drops and other necessary medicines.
