Mohammad Idris, Brahmanbaria: Miscreants set fire to a Grameen Bank branch in Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria, by pouring petrol. Furniture and important documents were burnt, but the cash vault remained intact. The incident took place at the Chandura branch of Grameen Bank in the Chandura area of the upazila late on Tuesday (November 11).
Bijoynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter. Bank branch manager Md. Kalim Uddin said that petrol was poured from outside and set on fire around 2 am. The night guard, upon sensing the incident, informed the locals. Later, with the help of locals, the fire was partially brought under control, after which the fire service arrived and completely extinguished the fire.
OC Shahidul Islam said, “After receiving the information, the police visited the scene. Initially, they are investigating who is involved in the incident. The bank authorities will report the matter to the police station in writing, said the branch manager.
