Bengali New Year 1433 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Barura, Comilla.

1433 Bengali New Year English On Tuesday, April 14 at 11 am, the Barura Upazila administration organized a Baisakhi procession to mark the Bengali New Year. The meeting was presided over by Barura Upazila Executive Officer Asaduzzaman Roni and was attended by Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Ahsan Hafiz, Barura Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Kamrul Hasan Roni, Barura Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam, Barura Thana OC Investigation Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, Barura Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan, Barura Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, freedom fighter Shamsul Haque Sardar, managing director of Barura Doctors Community Hospital, journalist Md. Elias Ahmed, president of Barura Thana Press Club, assistant professor of Jhalom High School College, Mohammad Masud Majumder, headmaster of Barura Haji Noab Ali Pilot High School Md. Medhad Uddin, headmaster of Kadba Talagram Tarini Charan Laha High School, Kazi Md. Ayub Ali, assistant headmaster Md. Delwar Hossain, and others. Officials from other departments of the administration, journalists and civil society leaders were present. The colorful Baisakhi procession started at 11 am and after parading various roads, it returned to the Upazila Parishad campus and ended. During this time, students dressed in different colors participated in the procession. After the procession, Barura Upazila Executive Officer Asaduzzaman Roni inaugurated the Rural Folk and Baisakhi Fair at 11.30 am. Rural and lost traditions were highlighted in the folk fair.

The Pohela Baishakh program ended with a day-long cultural program, essay and painting competition at the Upazila Mukta Mancha.
