Desk news : A Milad and Doa Mahfil was held by the joint initiative of Akhaura Upazila BNP, Municipal BNP and its affiliated organizations to pray for the eternal peace of Begum Khaleda Zia, the Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP, former three-time Prime Minister and Mother of Democracy. The Doa Mahfil, held at the Akhaura Road Market Dhaka Hotel auditorium on Sunday (January 4) afternoon, witnessed a large participation of local BNP leaders and activists, including people from different classes and professions.
Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, the final nominated leader of BNP in Kasba-Akhaura constituency, addressed the event as the chief guest.
He said, “Begum Khaleda Zia was a beacon of Bangladeshi politics. She is one of the strongest symbols of not only BNP but also the entire country’s democratic movement. The nation will forever remember her strong, courageous and militant role at the turning points of the country’s politics.”

He further said, “Whenever democracy was under threat in the country, Begum Zia led the movement to protect the rights of the people. Her steadfastness, tolerance and patriotism will remain an exemplary role model for future generations. We will continue to work to establish a democratic and just state system by embracing her ideals.”
The prayer mahfil was presided over by Akhaura Upazila BNP President Joynal Abedin Abdu. Former Akhaura Upazila BNP President and former Upazila Chairman Engineer Muslim Uddin, Brahmanbaria District BNP Joint General Secretary Belal Uddin Sarkar Tuhin, Akhaura Upazila BNP General Secretary Dr. Khorshed Alam Bhuiyan, Municipal BNP President Md. Selim Bhuiyan, General Secretary Akhter Khan and local top leaders of the party were present as special guests.
The speakers said that Begum Zia transformed herself into a guardian of the nation through her political wisdom, honest character, humanity and sacrifice. Her prudent role in every aspect of movement, struggle and state governance was unique. The speakers referred to her contribution as a priceless asset of national history.
At the end of the program, special prayers were conducted seeking the forgiveness of Begum Khaleda Zia’s soul, peace and prosperity of her family, the country and the nation, and the future success of BNP.
An atmosphere of mourning and respect prevailed throughout the Akhaura Upazila and Municipality in the memory of Begum Zia. Local leaders said that social and humanitarian programs will be taken up by the organization to maintain Begum Zia’s ideals and political spirit in the future.
