 Great Independence and National Day celebrations were held at Barura in Comilla. Sunday, March 26, at the beginning of the Great Independence and National Day, at the initiative of the Barura upazila administration, floral tributes were offered at the upazila central Shaheed Minar and upazila Bangabandhu Mural in memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the best son of the nation and the best Bengali father of a thousand years, at 6 in the morning. Guard Guides, Scout Team, BNCC, Ansar, Fire Service and Civil Defense from various educational institutions participated in the formal hoisting of the national flag and playing the national anthem at the Upazila Parishad ground at 8.30 am. Upazila Executive Officer Sabrina Afrin Mustafa presided over the event and Upazila Parishad Chairman ANM Mainul Islam was the chief guest. Barura Municipality Mayor Md Baktar Hossain Bakhtiar, Upazila Assistant Commissioner Lands Md Mehedi Hasan were special guests. Barura Police Station Novice Officer-in-Charge Md Firoz Hossain, Upazila Health Officer Dr Kamrul Hasan Sohel, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Nazrul Islam, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr Nasreen Sultana Tanu, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Saiful Islam, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, Upazila Youth Affairs Officer Development Officer Md. Rashedul Alam, Upazila Education Officer Tariqul Islam, DGM of Barura Palli Vidyut Samity Md. Jalal Uddin, Upazila Press Club President Md. Masud Majumder, all the administration officials, journalists and civil society leaders were present. On this day at 2 pm a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of felicitation of the best children of the nation, brave freedom fighters and Independence Day. Shakila Zaman, recitation instructor of the Barura municipality Kishore Kishori club establishment project, Azhar Suman, cultural activist, conducted the program.
