Giyas Uddin Litu of Kashipur area of Barisal city got success in agricultural work by using his talent and hard work. He has become successful by cultivating seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers.

Ghiyas Uddin is the son of deceased Hasem Ali Sardar of Karanja Village, Ward No. 27, Kashipur, Litu Nagar. He worked as an electrician in Pallividyu. He also started farming. As agricultural work was profitable, he left his job and concentrated on agricultural work. Finally Litu was able to establish himself as a successful farmer.

Going to the land, it can be seen that Litu is doing irrigation work on his own land. His wife and sons have been helping him in the agricultural work. The notable vegetables in his garden are tomato, hybrid turnip, cabbage, cauliflower, beans. Among the fruits are mango orchards. Litu said – he has been doing agricultural work for about 8-10 years. He has developed a variety of fruit and vegetable gardens in his own land. About 50 thousand rupees have been spent to grow all these vegetables. He practiced farming in a completely organic manner in the natural environment. No pesticides are used on his land. As a result, customers can buy and eat vegetables with local taste. All these crops are grown on about one acre of land. There has been a bumper crop this year. If everything goes well, the crop can be sold for 1 lakh taka. Ghiyasuddin Litu also said – I cultivate hybrid vegetables in a completely organic way. Due to which the cost of production is very low. And I can sell it at a good price in the market. You can earn good income in halal ways without job. It can be very beneficial. I am getting all government support. We get all kinds of information including vegetable seeds, fertilizers from agricultural extension. In this context, Deputy Director of District Agricultural Extension Department Md. Muradul Hasan said that any kind of help announced by the government in the field of agriculture will be given by the Agricultural Extension Department. At present, the Department of Agricultural Extension is making relentless efforts on behalf of the government to support the farmers in a family way and to provide all kinds of support for the overall development of the country’s agricultural products.
