The season’s first Hajj flight BG-3001 carrying Bangladeshi Hajj passengers has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight arrived at Jeddah Airport at around 7 am local time on Sunday (21 May). Bangladesh Biman has informed about the matter. Earlier, the first Hajj flight of this year BG-3001 left Dhaka with a total of 415 passengers. The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3.20 am today. 4 more Biman flights will leave Dhaka today at different times of the day with pilgrims bound for Jeddah. Earlier, in an event organized at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the occasion of the inauguration of the Hajj flight, the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism said that like every year, all preparations have been made to conduct the smooth Hajj transport program with the highest priority given to the importance of the holy Hajj and the sentiments of religious people. Biman has been conducting Hajj transportation operations with its own aircraft since 2019, increasing the capacity due to the modernization of the flights of Prime Minister Biman Bangladesh Airlines. This year, Biman will use a total of 5 aircraft including 4 Boeing-777 ER and 1 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for Hajj passenger transport. He also said that due to the successful diplomatic efforts of the Prime Minister, the immigration of the Saudi Arabian part of the pilgrims under the ‘Road to Makkah Initiative’ is being completed at the airport in Dhaka since 2019. Even after reaching Saudi Arabia, their luggage is also being delivered to the designated accommodation. It has reduced the effort, time and suffering of Haj pilgrims. Hajj journey has become easy and comfortable. We have always and will continue to strive to ensure that Haj pilgrims get the full benefit of this successful and people-friendly diplomatic initiative of the Prime Minister. The State Minister said that since 2019, due to the introduction of new rules and increased monitoring in the sale of Hajj tickets, no pilgrims have faced any harassment with airline tickets since then. This time also they will not face any problem with tickets. We are monitoring all Hajj transportation issues continuously and intensively. A total of 1 lakh 22 thousand 221 pilgrims from Bangladesh will go to Saudi Arabia this year. Out of this, half of the total passengers will be transported by Biman, 61 thousand 111 pilgrims. The remaining pilgrims will be transported by Saudia Airlines and Fly Nass. Biman will operate 162 pre-Hajj flights from May 21 to June 22 and 168 post-Hajj flights from July 2 to August 3 for a total of 330 Hajj flights. Like last year, Biman will operate flights from Dhaka to Jeddah and Madinah as well as from Chittagong and Sylhet to Jeddah and Madinah. It should be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Hajj program last Friday (May 19).
