Md. Moniruzzaman, Mymensingh: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, Bangladesh and Kazi Nazrul Islam are an indivisible entity. He is a worthy representative of our national identity. A symbol of our national consciousness, a symbol of our nationalism. On the birthday of the national poet, we erase the stain of injustice, injustice, hunger, poverty and danger. We embrace Bangladesh first and foremost.
The Prime Minister made the remarks as the chief guest at the three-day national-level inaugural ceremony of the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal, Mymensingh at 4:27 pm on Saturday (May 23).
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also said, May 25 will be the 127th birth anniversary of the beloved person of the people of Bangladesh, Kazi Nazrul Islam. I express my deep respect and love for his immortal memory. I remember him with gratitude. Since 2006, Nazrul Jayanti has not been celebrated at the national level in Trishal, where the immortal memory of the national poet is intertwined. After almost two decades, the government is proud to organize the birth anniversary of the national poet again today. Many may be familiar with one name at this event, but I would like to remember one such person with deep gratitude, he was the late Daroga Rafiz Ullah. This man took poet Nazrul Islam to his house in the Shimla village of Kazi in Trishal in 1914.
If we cannot remember or welcome the best sons of our nation with deep respect, it is not theirs but our own weakness as a nation that is revealed. Many of this generation may not know. Martyr President Ziaur Rahman was one of those who carried the poet’s coffin on his shoulders after the national poet’s funeral prayer at Sher-e-Bangla Udyan in Dhaka in 1976. Martyr President Ziaur Rahman also participated in a rally held from Farmgate in Dhaka to the Kabir Mazar of Dhaka University on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the national poet on May 25, 1979. National Kazi Nazrul Islam University was established in Trishal by Begum Khaleda Zia. In this way, by showing the highest respect and honor to the national poet, it has been proven that honoring someone does not destroy one’s honor, but humility glorifies people. I think that the decline of values is visible in our society today because of the move away from these timeless ideals.
He further said, Kazi Nazrul Islam is an unforgettable name in our national history. His appearance in the sky was like a beacon for the fate of the oppressed, defeated, and oppressed nation. Our hopes, aspirations, dreams, struggles, literature, culture, history, and traditions are all beautifully expressed in his works. Be it revolution, rebellion, or war songs, Islamic tawiz, tamaddun, or songs of Islamic values, or bhajans, kirtans, or syama songs, love, nature, or human values, the joy of adolescence, or the madness of youth, Nazrul Islam is our pure expression in every field. Kazi Nazrul Islam means the dawn of a new dawn in Bengali literature. A revolution of a new taste in Bengali literature. He brought the roar of war to poetry. He voiced the thunder of state and economic independence. He was a unique peddler of women’s rights, the welfare of hardworking people, and non-communal world humanity. This great poet is a symbol of the eternal youth of the culture of Bangladesh during its humiliation. He is alive in our hearts. May he remain so, God willing.
He further said, the long-standing fascist regime has not only looted the rights of the people of the country and the country’s financial and property. It has destroyed all the institutions of the country, including the judiciary. The biggest loss, especially during the era of depraved fascism, has been completely destroyed, humanity, humanity and the religious and social values of the country. The brutal death of an innocent girl in Mirpur, Dhaka has provided conclusive evidence of the ultimate degradation of human values. I would like to clearly present one thing in this regard in today’s program. The current government will not accept this kind of child abuse or women abuse in any way and the current government will ensure the maximum punishment for Ramisa’s murderer within the next month and that maximum punishment is the death penalty. So that in the future no one else dares to abuse children or women in this way.
The Prime Minister said, “To establish a safe and humane state and society, we must establish the rule of law. We must change the political culture. At the same time, we must revive the religious, social, and cultural values of Bangladesh in our national life. In this regard, the life and work of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is relevant to us.”
He further said, “The life and work of poet Nazrul needs to be spread more in the world literary court. His sense of life, his philosophy of life must be conveyed to generation after generation. As part of this, I will urge the Ministry of Culture and the Tourism Department to examine the feasibility of declaring Trishal, which commemorates our national poet, as Nazrul City.”
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the re-excavation of the Darirampur Dhar Canal dug by his father in 1979 after 47 years. At that time, the Prime Minister personally dug the soil and handed it over to the workers. Earlier, he started his journey from the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon at 11:05 am for Mymensingh. It is known that the then President Ziaur Rahman came to Trishal in Mymensingh on a personal visit on September 6, 1979 and was involved in the measurement and excavation of the local ‘Dharar Canal’ or Bailor Canal. However, this canal in Trishal was also excavated as part of the comprehensive canal excavation program that he launched across the country between 1976 and 1977.
Recalling the canal excavation, elderly Jalal Islam of Kanhar village in Bailor union said, “I was a young man then. Then I saw Ziaur Rahman Amagar wearing a pair of pants and a shirt and wearing glasses. He himself was inaugurating the canal excavation work by digging the soil with a spade. He had been sitting in front of that madrasa for a long time.”
He further said, “This boy has come to the Amgore area again after becoming the Prime Minister. The people of this area are the ones who have come here, the President has come here, and this Prime Minister will also come.”
Former Imam of Kanhar More Mosque Md. Shahidullah said, ‘Father came here as President, now son is coming as Prime Minister. We are very happy and joyful. We are the people of this area who are neglected. The road that the Prime Minister’s father walked along this canal. So far, there has been no development on this road. We want him to announce the paving of this road. We do not have a community clinic in this area. We want a community clinic from the Prime Minister.’
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury and other state guests were also present at the event. Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam, State Minister for Relief and Disaster Engineer M Iqbal Hossain, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury, State Minister for Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat,
