The ongoing student movement “Bangla Blockade” is going on across the country to demand reform of quota system in jobs. Especially the university students are protesting by blocking roads and highways at different places. As a part of this, the students of Barisal University are also protesting by blocking the Barisal-Patuakhali highway. As a result, all traffic on this route has been stopped. As a result, ordinary passengers have suffered.
However, there is a lot of pressure on the passengers on the trawler route of the alternative route Dapadapia Ferry Ghat.
Bilkis Begum left Kuakata for Barisal in the afternoon and reached Dapadapia in Nalchiti by a lot of cost. She said that she changed cars repeatedly and came here by easy bike because there were no passenger buses. Since Barisal could not hire an ambulance, he had to come by this route.
The students of Barisal University blocked the Barisal-Patuakhali highway in the quota reform movement. As a result, the passengers are forced to use the old ferry at Dapadapia as an alternative route. Since the Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat bridge was opened, the ferry service on this route has been stopped. Since then, passengers cross the river in trawlers on this route. As the highway is closed due to the blockade, passengers are crossing the river in trawlers taking risks even in the rain. Hundreds of thousands of passengers using this route have suffered. They are also taking this route under compulsion. It is not known when the blockade will be lifted.
