Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Homecoming Day-2024 was celebrated at Patuakhali University of Science and Technology.

On the occasion of celebrating the day, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Swadesh Chandra Samant and Treasurer Prof. Mohammad paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the academic building of the University and the bust sculpture of Bangabandhu located in front of the administrative building at 11.00 am on Wednesday, January 10. Later, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Swadesh Chandra Samant spoke as the chief guest in a brief discussion moderated by Registrar (Act) Prof. Dr. Santosh Kumar Bose at the foot of Bangabandhu’s bust sculpture.

In the chief guest’s speech, he said, Bangabandhu’s release was not an easy matter. He was sentenced to death in a Pakistan military court for sedition. But in the face of international pressure, the then Pakistani government could not execute his death sentence and was forced to release him. Bangabandhu’s homecoming in 1972 was a great inspiration to the newly independent Bengali nation. His return was described as a “journey from darkness to light”. At the touch of his arrival comes great freedom. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest father of the Bengali nation of a thousand years, returned home after being freed from the captivity of Pakistan when the Bengali nation faced a difficult reality in the question of taking the devastated Bangladesh forward after achieving victory in the war of liberation through long struggle, sacrifice, agitation and self-sacrifice.

Bangabandhu’s daughter Honorable Prime Minister Jannetri Sheikh Hasina is taking the country forward on the path of development by following his ideals. In continuation of which, Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina is going to take over the responsibility of the Prime Minister for the fourth time in a row through an absolute victory on January 7. On behalf of the university family, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. congratulated him on his great victory. Dean, chairman, teachers, officers, students and staff members of various faculties of the university were present in the Swadesh Chandra Samant ceremony.
