Under the employment and poverty alleviation of unemployed people of Shakpur Union of Comilla Barura Upazila, various financial grants including motor rickshaws, sewing machines, financial grants for sick patients, cash financial assistance to mosques and temples have been distributed. On 1st September (Friday) at 5 pm in the field adjacent to Shakpur new market, 15 martyrs and senior Awami League leaders of Shakpur Union were honored with gifts, maternity allowance to 9 women in need of childbearing, motorized rickshaws to 9 unemployed people in 9 wards, motorized rickshaws to 9 poor and Gift of sewing machine to a widow, cash gift to 9 poor cancer patients and cash gift to various mosques and temples of the union. A help seeker who came to take a rickshaw said, I had no work, I used to live with a lot of difficulty. I could not feed the children two meals a day. Shamim bhai now has a rickshaw of his own. I can eat rice for two meals with my wife and children. The event was presided over by former member of Shakpur Union and Awami League leader Abul Hashem Comilla South District Awami League Vice President and SQ Foundation Chairman AZM Shafiuddin Shamim was present as the chief guest.
