The vandalism occurred on Monday (February 23) afternoon in the presence of leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement.
It is known that this office has been locked since August 5. However, after the parliamentary elections on February 12, rumors of opening the party office arose and cleaning work was also done secretly. Most recently, on February 21, a few leaders and activists led by district Awami League leader Kazi Azad Jahan Shamim hoisted the flag and laid wreaths in front of the party office. After this incident, a lot of such pictures were spread on social media, creating a stir. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement also said that the party office was vandalized mainly due to such active activities of Awami League leaders and activists.
Confirming the truth of the news, Al Noor Ayas, the central coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, “Awami League is a banned organization. They are involved in the murder of thousands of students and the public, including Shaheed Sagar, and their trial is underway. Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of this banned organization have recently shown the courage to open a party office and conduct organizational activities. But the activities of the banned organization will not be allowed to be conducted over the blood of Shaheed Sagar. If necessary, this office will be demolished and a public toilet will be made.”
