Students took to the streets under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement as part of the pre-announced program on Saturday (August 3) morning. Although the police played a somewhat silent role, later the mass procession was proceeding towards Shimangacha with the mediation of the executive magistrates of the district administration office. Allegedly, when the police went to the Lines area, the Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League attacked and fired at the students from behind. At this time, more than half a hundred were injured.
